Farmland Natural Spring in Fort Atkinson, WI ©2022-2023 Spiritbridge, Dave W. McCoy |
Work & World seem to have amped up the chaos lately, but I found time to reflect upon Grandma's birthday on the 15th.
About a week later, and after one of the most intense heat waves that Wisconsin has had in modern times, I sat down earlier this evening (I've had to think like Winnie the Pooh on the words for this entry) to assess things with the project.
One of the main things that sticks out to me is how little the Society6 store underperforms. Moreso - I feel like this particular POD (Print on Demand) service offers, maybe, too many things beyond Photo Prints.
One of my goals with the project was to maybe make some extra income, even if slight, based on Print Sales (& later Stock Image Sales on Shutterstock). Society6 has not been fulfilling that goal & I feel like the main reason may be the generality of the service.
Suggestions on options for online POD storefronts that only offer Print products will be greatly appreciated!
I have also sat at the desk here researching, with the aid of the great & powerful Google local galleries & how photographers generally make money from their hobbies or careers. I should preface this as a "spitballing session" moment.
I think it would be neat to have some Spiritbridge imagery in a gallery or space where it feels more proper and could be for sale. However, It seems there's a limited home for photography by novice creators in galleries that came up in the results.
I know there are some small-scale galleries in the state, Door County being the hub of the state, which I'm sure I could look into further. For now, it is still a plan notation.
I also have some inspired ideas for the cross-integration of this blog with the YouTube channel in the future. This inspiring energy surfaced from my recollection of Grandma sitting every Sunday morning watching America's Test Kitchen & Cook's Country & their way of promoting their companion book series.
All things will take time and energy on my part. I've found my journey into building trades a slow progression after passing the ACCUPLACER earlier this month. I've also had doubts creep into my mind & thoughts if I should try to get into trucking again instead. I guess my mid-life crisis will just be me worrying about my future & bringing peace to my chaotic life - at the moment. Here is where I subtly mention the GOFUNDME campaign.
This entry's image is from around 2022 & shows the Bark River Spring in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. It flows naturally all year round and is accessible free of charge to people who stop by & gather the water in jugs for drinking or other uses. If I recall, this spring did have a higher iron content, thus adding that unpleasant iron taste.
